"Call for Artists: 2005 Residencies in USA"
|
From the Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, FL, United States of America
Since 1982, Atlantic Center's residency program has provided artists from all artistic disciplines with spaces to live, work, and collaborate during three-week residencies. Located just four miles from the east coast beaches of central Florida, the pine and palmetto wooded environment contains award-winning studios that include a resource library, painting studio, sculpture studio, music studio, dance studio, black box theater, writer's studio, and digital computer lab. The master artists each personally select a group of associates - talented, emerging artists - through an application process administered by ACA. During the residency, artists participate in informal sessions with their group, collaborate on projects, and work independently on their own projects. The relaxed atmosphere and unstructured program provide considerable time for artistic regeneration and creation. Atlantic Center for the Arts provides housing (private room/bath with work desk), weekday meals (provided by ACA chef) and shared studio space. 2005 Schedule February 7 - 27 (application deadline: October 22, 2004) Larry Austin, composer/electronic music Douglas Dunn, choreographer William Gass, writer MARCH 7 - 27 (application deadline: November 29, 2004) Maggie Estep, writer Fiona Rae, visual artist Henry Threadgill, composer/musician MAY 16 - JUNE 5 (application deadline: February 11, 2005) Jessica Hagedorn, writer Jane Hammond, visual artist David Rakowski, composer JUNE 27 - JULY 17 (application deadline: March 11, 2005) Arnold Mesches, visual artist Pauline Oliveros, composer TBA SEPTEMBER 5 - 25 (application deadline: May 20, 2005) Graciela Sacco, visual artist Paula Vogel, playwright Yehudi Wyner, composer OCTOBER 10 - 30 (application deadline: July 22, 2005) Puppet Residency (Artists TBA) "I cannot praise the architecture and game plan for ACA highly enough.
